Grow & Learn

Cavalia specialises in teaching different horse riding skills to children as well as to adult beginner to advanced riders.

Horse Riding in Mauritius

Cavalia is a riding school located in Cascavelle, a village on the west coast of Mauritius.

In December 2014, after 5 years of work, Cavalia opened its doors in a beautiful natural setting between the mountains and the sea.

Cavalia offers riding, dressage and show jumping lessons for all levels, as well as a Pony Club for the little ones with riding lessons, show jumping and “pony games”. The centre also offers vaulting lessons for those who like to combine gymnastics, dance and horse riding.
Private rides are also organised, as well as corporate events such as team building, end-of-year events and birthday parties.

The high standards, quality and professionalism of the equestrian teaching provided by Stéphanie Jauffret’s team make it a reference for equestrian enthusiasts.

The family spirit that reigns allows young and old, from beginners to professionals, to develop and improve their skills in a safe environment.

The resolutely human approach, team spirit, respect, benevolence and discipline are Cavalia’s key values.

For the past 9 years, Cavalia has welcomed a wide range of profiles, both local and expatriate. To date, more than 200 families are members.
Cavalia also welcomes school classes for visits to give children an opportunity to get a first experience with ponies and horses, as riding is a real way for young people to reconnect with their environment and themselves.

Equitherapy courses are also run at Cavalia for people with behavioural problems and autism, with spectacular results.
Competitions take place at the club throughout the year with various audiences (other clubs, families and friends).

Tourists via West Coast hotels send all along the year their residents for rides and trainings.

What are the benefits?

Riding is much more than a sport; it is the school of life.

Regardless of age, one learns respect for others and nature, self-help and autonomy that increases personal fulfilment – the horse makes you happy.

The practice of horseback riding allows one to live in the present moment and provides a moment for oneself. Beyond its physical benefits, such as the development of balance, muscle tone, and coordination, horseback riding also offers real moral benefits, allowing one to gain self-confidence, improve determination, concentration, attention, perseverance, develop a stronger mindset, and gain leadership skills to develop the ability to manage and anticipate situations.

There are many approaches to the horse – on foot, on his back, or behind him: Vaulting, dressage, show jumping, horse-ball, pony games, horse-drawn carriages and working on foot.

Stretch pants are preferable for lessons, if you do not have riding pants. If you are joining us for a trail, you can join us in shorts, although we recommend sticking to stretch pants.

For the lessons, closed shoes or boots are mandatory: you can borrow a pair of boots from the club for your lesson, free of charge.

For the trails, there is no obligation, but it is still preferable to avoid flip flops especially to walk next to the horses.

Keep in mind that we have a tack shop at the club, where you can purchase all the riding gear you may need 🙂
